Examples of funded projects

Fiscal Year2025: A grant was awarded to improve safety at the plant and purchase new equipment, which decrease processing time. The new efficiencies and related increase in processing capacity allowed the plant to add approximately 10 new jobs. A grant was awarded to expand domestic livestock processing capabilities by modernizing and expanding their mobile slaughter unit. The upgraded facility reduced the wait time for local ranchers. The grant resulted in the facility receiving a grant of inspection from USDA, which allowed the facility and its customers sell products across state lines. An awarded grant allowed the facility to modernize its value-added production line to reduce food safety risks associated with outdated equipment. The grant also helped to increase processing capacity by approximately 2,000 pounds per day, purchase a 189 sq ft walk-in freezer and increase packaging from 24 to 600 packages per hour. The grant also resulted in the attainment of a CIS inspection in September of 2024.
