What the grant funds

The purpose of this agreement is to continue in the protection and recovery of Gila Chub and Northern Mexican Gartersnake which were federally-listed as endangered in 2005 and threatened in 2014, respectively. Through the construction of a fish passage barrier, and the subsequent removal of Green Sunfish in Indian Creek, this project would provide long term suitable habitat, as well as protect existing populations. As such, the AGFD has extensive experience working at this location, as well as knowledge of the Agua Fria River. Therefore, the expertise and direct involvement of the AGFD is necessary to implement and accomplish the project. The proposed project activities will include: Contractor will conduct a site survey for the proposed fish screen location to better understand the site and determine design needs; Contractor will conduct research and provide multiple design alternatives of the fish screen to Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) for review and approval; Contractor will develop the final design plans and determine quantity estimates and engineering construction cost estimates; and Contractor will submit final design plans to AZGFD, and AZGFD will provide final design plans to Reclamatio
