What the grant funds

NIC will continue to build on the guidance the framework provides to pretrial professionals and criminal justice stakeholders. This solicitation focuses on the essential elements of a high functioning pretrial services agency and seeks to gain an understanding of how jurisdictions are implementing the essential elements as a part of their journey to attain high functioning status. The framework facilitates discussion on defining the elements and their importance; the publications will focus on how pretrial practitioners and criminal justice stakeholders have taken the research behind the essential elements and put it into practice. Resources developed from this solicitation will focus on the implementation of the essential elements as experienced by pretrial professionals, offering insight into strategies used to align organizational infrastructure with shifts in policies and practices needed to adopt the elements.
