The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement is to support research on how to optimally address upstream social determinants of health that can often present a barrier to optimal oral health and impede the effectiveness of clinical interventions, particularly in vulnerable and underserved communities. To achieve this goal, this initiative will encourage multi-disciplinary collaborations, mechanistic research, multi-level research, and the use of complex systems science approaches.
