The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) is the component of the U.S. Department of Justice responsible for advancing the practice of community policing and the Administration’s priority of Making America Safe Again by supporting the nation’s state, local, territorial and Tribal law enforcement agencies through information and grant resources. The Office of Justice Programs (OJP) is committed to advancing work that furthers the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) mission to keep our country safe and secure and uphold the rule of law and protect the rights of American citizens. OJP provides federal leadership, funding, and other critical resources to directly support law enforcement, combat violent crime, protect American children, provide services to American crime victims, and address public safety challenges, including human trafficking and the opioid crisis. The FY2027 COPS-OJP Constitutional Protections for Parents – A NASRO SRO TTA Invitational Program funding opportunity is intended to support the development and dissemination of a series of training and technical assistance resources directly to our nation’s school resource officers, school administrators, teachers, and other school personnel to increase their understanding and appropriate implementation of the constitutional rights of parents, their role in the education system, and related practices to keep children safe. By strengthening knowledge across the school safety community, this training will help prevent violations, promote lawful decision-making, and ensure that constitutional protections and parental rights are meaningfully respected and upheld. All awards are subject to the availability of appropriated funds and any modifications or additional requirements that may be imposed by law.
