## What the grant funds

The purpose of this Cooperative Agreement (CA or Agreement) is to provide the Recipient with resources to collect and analyze motor vehicle safety data consistent with NHTSA’s records-based data collection programs: The Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS), a census of all police-reported fatal motor vehicle crashes in the United States (50 States, District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico), where crash information is analyzed, coded, and stored in NHTSA’s Records-Based Information Solution (RBIS). Also, FARS collects and enters fatalities resulting from non-traffic fatal crashes information in RBIS; The Crash Report Sampling System (CRSS), a sample of police-reported crashes involving motor vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists, ranging from non-traffic crash injuries to property-damage-only crashes, and to those that result in fatalities.
