| What to submit | The chair of the dissertation research awards committee receives all the submissions and sends the materials out to the other members of the committee for review. Each of the four committee members evaluates these materials independently, using a rating sheet that considers: strengths and weaknesses of the proposal as well as the appropriateness of the requested funding. The committee then reviews the scores across all submissions and determines a number of possible awards. In the case of several students ranking highly and similarly, the committee considers whether to give several awards. This recommendation is then sent to the board of trustees and the treasure of the society (the society of multivariate experimental psychology) for approval.
